Principal Michele Peña

Dear RVHS Parents and Community,

Welcome back to the home of the mighty SaberCats.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of this school for the past four years.

As principal of Robert Vela High School, I am thrilled to welcome each and every one of you back to continue this journey of learning, growth, and excellence.  Once again our halls will be filled with your energy, enthusiasm, and determination.  This year, there is a genuine excitement in the air as we prepare for  instruction once again. We can't wait to see our students walk through our school doors and reclaim the halls, lunch tables, football field, stage, library, books, teachers, and their friendships. Be assured that RVHS will provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.

As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my student-centered approach to supporting our students.

The 2024-2025 school year brings with it new beginnings, opportunities, and challenges.  Let us embrace them together, as a strong and united community, committed to supporting one another and fostering a positive and enriching learning environment.  Our dedicated team of educators and staff are here to support you every step of the way, as we work together towards achieving our goals and reaching new heights of success.

As we begin the new year, please keep the following in mind.

--School begins at 9:00 AM and students are released at 4:30 PM.

--Outside food and drinks may not be delivered to students during the respective lunch hours or any other time

  during the school day.

--Students are not allowed in the parking lot during the instructional day.

--All visitors must obtain a pass and enter the campus through the reception doors in the front of the school.

I am excited for all the adventures, memories, and achievements that await us in the coming year.  Let's make it a great one, filled with learning, laughter, and lots of SaberCat spirit.

Welcome back, SaberCat families.

Sincerely,

Michele L. Peña
