Dear RVHS Parents and Community,

As principal of Robert Vela High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year in SaberCat Country!   2021 marks Robert Vela High School’s tenth year as an accredited ECISD high school. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning beginning August 16, 2021. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our RVHS family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be college, career, or military ready by the end of four years.

At Robert Vela High School, we have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers, and effective citizenship.

The Edinburg Consolidated School District along with Robert Vela High School will shift back into a traditional classroom environment. Below is the tentative bell schedule.

1st Period 9:00 – 9:58
2nd Period 10:03- – 10:54
3rd Period 10:59 – 11:50

We hope that you will find our website helpful and informative. Most of the information we send out via email can also be found on this site. Our monthly newsletters are emailed to parents, and we upload a copy to our website. Additionally, we have a Twitter account (@EdinburgVela) and a Facebook page (@RobertVelaHighSchoolSabercats) that we will use to send out updates and quick announcements as we go through the school year.

As our new school year is filled with possibility, I am humbled to serve as the principal at Robert Vela High School. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. If you need anything, please feel free to contact me at 956-289-2650 or at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Michele L. Peña
